Job Description:
Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) offers industry leading performance, reliability,
and security for PCIe Switches, Smart CXL Memory Controllers, Smart Storage Controllers, RAID Controllers, SAS/SATA IO Controllers, SAS Expanders, and NVME Controllers.
As an Embedded Solutions Engineer specializing in PCIe and related Storage technologies, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with clients, leveraging your engineering expertise to develop technical solutions. Additionally, you will actively identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
Working within our Embedded Solutions Engineering Team, you will closely collaborate with Sales, Application Engineering, and Marketing teams to empower our major storage/data center customers to successfully bring their solutions to the market. Our work revolves around cutting-edge technology deployed in data centers, machine learning/AI, and storage applications. We engage with customer engineering teams to facilitate design wins, product ramp-up, and system production. Job Responsibilities:
- Engage with Sales and Marketing teams to provide pre- and post-sales technical support for all product lines with a primary focus on PCIe Switches, Smart CXL Memory Controllers, Smart Storage Controllers, RAID Controllers, SAS/SATA IO Controllers, SAS Expanders, and NVME Controllers.
- Fully support client development processes that include Microchip compute/storage solutions to advance design-in to post-production.
- Understand architectures and HW/SW designs to characterize customer related problems, providing both timely technical support and engineering feedback.
- Utilize engineering design skills, techniques, and knowledge to decrease client development time and improve manufacturability.
- Identify the key client stakeholders and coach those stakeholders to build consensus for Microchip’s solutions within their organization.
- Communicate effectively with Microchip’s Business Units providing quantifiable feedback and ROI for their investments in clients.
Contribute and participate within a global team environment, to successfully develop and implement sales strategies across client’s divisions and geographical locations.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- BS degree or above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering related field
- Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams and across multiple geographical locations
- 3-5+ years of relevant working experience in Server/Storage industry
- Strong understanding of current server/storage architecture, including familiarity with at least one major interconnect/storage protocol such as CXL, PCI-Express, NVMe, SAS/SATA, SCSI, SES, etc.
- Preferably, a solid understanding of fundamental operating system principles and Linux kernel architecture.
- Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication skills is required.
- 2+ years of customer-facing experience
- Ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
- Hardware background with hands-on experience on board-level debug & bring-up is preferred.
- Good understanding of working in a Linux environment (firmware, drivers, BIOS)
- Strong technical leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
