To strengthen our hydrodynamic team we are looking for a talented and ambiguous candidate that can take part in optimizing and analyzing the next-generation propellers to meet our customer’s performance expectations including present and coming environmental rules and legislations.
MAN Energy Solutions is a technology leader in designing, manufacturing, and servicing propellers for a multitude of ship types, covering both the commercial and navy markets. The propellers form a part of a propulsion system and are designed to meet the most stringent requirements for efficiency, noise, and strength. The design process is supported by a suite of software programs comprising both internal and third-party developed ones. MAN Energy Solutions has a large cluster at its disposal to ensure that complex simulations can be accomplished within the required time.
You will play an important role in:
As a hydrodynamic expert:
- Your main task will be to simulate and optimize propellers and aft-ship products using CFD and BEM methods and with the objective of complying with a diversity of requirements – efficiency, emitted noise (both structures born and underwater radiated), strength, and considering operational flexibility
- You develop existing and new software to meet specific needs
- You act as an expert to support our internal sales organization with optimization and selection of propulsion plants
- You participate in international research projects and model tests for verifying the performance of MAN-ES’s designed propellers
We imagine that you:
- Have an educational background as a naval architect or within turbo machinery, holding a Master's or PhD degree and having a strong interest in hydrodynamics.
- Have knowledge of hydrodynamics, acoustics, and noise - including BEM/CFD simulations and ship propulsion - will be preferable but not a must as we will provide internal training
- Are being open-minded and willing to participate in discussions as the design process is a team effort
- Are result-oriented, work proactively and diligently, and understand the cultural differences as the team is multi-cultural
- As an individual, are dynamic and trustworthy and capable of building and maintaining relations with other team members and colleagues
- Are fluent in English verbally and in writing, as well as technical English
